A partnership with parents
The staff and governors of The Croft School
are very keen to promote a good working
partnership with the parents. It is through
co-operation and shared responsibility that
we are able to help the children achieve
their full potential. The school tries to
involve parents in their child's education
through various methods.

A newsletter from the Headteacher 'Croft Inform'
goes out to parents at the start of each half term,
as well as termly class newsletters.
From the start of a child's life at the school
we encourage the parents to find out what their
child does during the day. Parents can talk to
the reception teacher before or after school,
by pre-arrangement.
The school has a homework policy and homework
is given on a regular basis. It is expected that
children will devote some of their free time to
educational purposes. It is hoped that parents
will encourage and assist their child to complete
any reading or other work which they may have
been asked to do.
Parents are encouraged to help with their child's
literacy skills. Reading stories to them as often
as possible, regularly sharing books, talking
to their children about books and listening to
their children read.
Parents can also help their child with basic
number work, multiplication facts, spelling and
handwriting. Staff are willing to discuss these
areas and explain to parents what they can do
to help.
We are pleased to welcome parents and grandparents
who are able to help within the school. These
people can do a variety of jobs within the school
in many ways, and in doing so they help the children
in the school.
There is a very active and supportive Parents,
Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) which
organises various functions and activities throughout
the year. The PTFA raises a considerable amount
of money, which is used to buy equipment resources
and materials for use in the school.
Every parent is automatically a member of the
PTFA, and we hope that all new parents will become
active members.
The PTFA has as its main aim the educational
welfare of the pupils.
We believe that if parents, teachers and governors
work together then we will be able to achieve
the most for the children in our care.
We aim to promote high standards in all areas
of achievement through encouragement and hard
work. We also try to help the children to develop
respect for each other in a caring and friendly
atmosphere
Teacher Contact
If a problem arises, please feel free to come
and speak to the class teacher as soon as possible.
We operate an 'open door' policy, so please do
not hesitate to come into school to discuss any
queries or problems, however trivial they seem.
If something is upsetting your child, then it
is not trivial.
