Facilities and Security

The school building is well maintained, and in good condition.
The governors and staff are keen to see that the school is a welcoming and pleasant place to be in.

Recent internal refurbishment programmes have ensured that the classrooms and school facilities provide the best possible environment for the children.

The governors and staff are also very aware of the need for security and safety within the school. The overall security has been assessed and certain measures taken to increase security.

Risk management and safety needs are regularly reviewed at least once a term by the Governor's Building Committee.

The school is fortunate enough in having a large, suitably resourced reception classroom. This allows the new entrants plenty of scope and opportunity to develop all the early learning goals. These skills are essential for the children to make good progress through school once they begin National Curriculum activities.

There is a large multi-purpose hall which is used for assemblies, music, drama and physical education, and the 'out of hour's club'. There is a good range of P.E. equipment and apparatus, which is available for all the children to use.

The other classrooms are of a good size and are well equipped with all the relevant resources, such as computers and interactive whiteboard.

We have a library and resource area together with a purpose built computer suite with the latest technology including active whiteboard.

Environmental Study Area

Attached to the school field is an area which has been developed as an environmental study area.

We have a woodland area, with wild flowers, an insect garden and a pond.

We hope that the way we care for our grounds will encourage and instil a sense of caring and responsibility in the children. This will help them to develop into responsible members of society.

The school uses the environmental/conservation area as a resource for studying flora and fauna in different habitats. The older children are involved in the care and development of the grounds.

Dining Arrangements

There is a well equipped kitchen attached to the school, which provides an excellent choice of mid-day meals. The meals are served along cafeteria lines by cheerful, friendly staff.

Even the youngest children quickly become confident, and are able to choose their own meals.
